Oh, that Earthshot thing is over now, is it? Didn't watch anything about it. Here in Aus on Tuesday the Melbourne Cup, the horse race 'that stops a nation' held sway all day. Australians were enjoying the public holiday for it, holding picnics and barbecues while keeping an eye on the race, and many went away as it was fine weather.

On Wednesday of course the US Presidential election was held and the eyes of the world (including myself and my family) were on it and its immediate aftermath for at least two days.

What genius at BP/KP decided that Earthshot was going to be held on the week of the 2024 US Federal election to gain maximum world attention? Because whoever it was should probably be permanently demoted! William and Earthshot overshadowing that! Don't think so!

And it's not as if TPTB in charge of this sideshow weren't given plenty of notice! Since 1845 in fact, the US election is held every four years on the Tuesday of the first week in November.

Same day as Melbourne Cup Day in fact, but the fact that we are the other side of the world means that the Cup has been run and the day is over before counting ballots occurs here, on our Wednesday morning.

It did get plenty of notice on social media. It was broadcast across the entire continent of Africa. I think anyone who wanted to watch it did. I was able to follow both the election and the awards.

The Princess of Wales will return to Westminster Abbey to host her annual Christmas Carol Service on Friday 6th December.

"This year's service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives."
