It?s always a contentious issue for the JRF isn?t it, especially considering how much the Emperor Hirohito was involved in the run-up to WW2 and during the war and just after it. That doesn?t mean that the war dead should not be honoured by the IF of course.

On October 15th, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako began a 2-day visit to Ishikawa Prefecture for the "Ishikawa Hyakumangoku Cultural Festival 2023," which is the unified name for the 38th National Cultural Festival and the 23rd National Art & Cultural Festival for People with Disabilities.

The IF canceled the public New Year greetings on the balcony due to the earthquake.  There is speculation that the appearance might be made next month for the Emperor's birthday.

That is understandable. Japan has had a terrible beginning to 2024 and there can?t be public appearances on the balcony while dead bodies are still being recovered from wrecked buildings. The Emperor?s birthday will be better, so long as there are no further earthquakes.

Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan arrived in London yesterday afternoon. Their Majesties will stay in the UK until 28 June.

State Visit starts Tuesday.

September 26: Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako met Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) at the Imperial residence for an hour. The 8 volunteers discussed their activities in Paraguay, Brazil, Gabon, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand and Rwanda.

The Imperial Household Agency has announced the death of Her Imperial Highness Yuriko, The Princess Mikasa.

HLIH Yuriko was the oldest member of the Imperial Family passing away at the age of 101. HLIH had suffered multiple health issues including a stroke earlier this year.
