Empress Sissi's christening gown displayed recently. Remarkable that such an historic item has survived through tumultuous times for about 186 years now in such good condition. Some discolouration due to age of course, but still intact and with decorative pieces attached.

Besides the sad fact that Prince Andrew died quite young I think it's a great pity that Andrew sort of drifted off to the South of France with a mistress after Prss Alice became so ill and his daughters married.

As a result of this, and of course WW2, Pr Philip had a non-existent relationship with his father really, from his childhood on. Andrew apparently found it acceptable that his daughters, sons in law and his estranged wife's family should take over the responsibility of his son and make decisions regarding his future with little input from himself.

They all loved him of course but I do think that Philip missed having a close relationship with his father (and in some ways his mother as well)
