Spain celebrates National Day

Today, Spain celebrated their National Day with a traditional military parade which ran from the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V and the Plaza de Colón and involved more than 3,000 troops, 147 vehicles and 55 fighter jets of the Armed Forces. This parade was followed by a reception at the Royal Palace, where this awkward family photo was taken.

Duchess of Alba to marry again

The Duchess of Alba and Alfonso DiezDoña María del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, 18th Duchess of Alba de Tormes, Grandee of Spain is to marry for a third time. She is to marry Alfonso Diez, her long time friend and companion.

Their relationship is believed to have started in 2008 when rumours started circulating in the Spanish Press and it was not confirmed until around the summer of 2010.

Letizia visits Handisport

Princess Letizia of AsturiasThis week, Princess Letizia stopped by Handisport, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping the handicapped integrate socially through sports.

Handisport is located on the island of Mallorca, a popular tourist destination for many in Europe.

Letizia's visit included a working meeting on the practice of adapted sport, and was intended to promote tourism in the Balearic Islands.
