Queen Noor of Jordan at 60
Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan is celebrating a personal milestone this month; Her Majesty recently celebrated her 60th birthday with close friends and family.
As Dowager Queen of Jordan, Her Majesty Queen Noor continues to play a high profile ambassadorial role for Jordan abroad, the Queen is often seen attending charitable events, and currently divides her time between Jordan, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Her Majesty is currently head of the United World Colleges movement and often speaks highly of causes which she finds important, these include nuclear proliferation and cultural understanding between the Western world and the Middle Eastern cultures.
Born Elizabeth Najeeb Halaby on August 23 1951 in the United States into a Syrian-American family, the Queen met her husband King Hussein II of Jordan in June 1978 and together had four children.
She was the King’s fourth wife.
