The dress was lovely - however, I did not like the Madonna cones at the front - with what looked like her n***ples pointing out.

Except those aren't n**ples.  If they are, she has them lower than most people, including old ladies.   They're the darts.  In some of the pictures, you can actually see the darts running from the side, up the front on a slant.  The bodice is a bit pointed because, isn't the dress supposed to be 1950's inspired?  That's how the bodices were back in the 50's.  Look at Princess Grace's dress:

I remember the mother of a friend of mine still wore her bodices like that in the 70's.  She was Madonna before Madonna was Madonna.  :teehee:

^ In fact, a lot of brassieres from the forties, fifties and sixties had that effect too.  Pointy, pointy with an emphasis on the areolar nipple complex.  They were called bullet bras, lol.

Quote
Bullet bras or cone-shaped bras first came to prominence in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s and they gave a very erotic and feminine look that became known as the Sweater Girl Look. The Sweater Girl Look term came from the manner in which a close fitting sweater would hug the bullet bra and body shape to give a highly feminine, sexy and erotic look.
Hollywood actresses had a great influence on women who began to look for bras that would shape and lift the breasts to enhance their femininity and to give an alluring cleavage. The bullet bra pointed bust was further inspired by the Christian Dior ‘New Look’ with its pointed cups.

OT but here is a joke.
It's so cold here at the moment that the local flasher had to desribe himself.

BOT now.

I think that a lot of the uniqueness was actually in the details rather than the overall design. I mean, yes there have been tons of wedding dresses designed with sweatheart necklines, lace applique, etc - I hate to say it, but unless you are going to go really off the wall, the dress is going to be somewhat standard. However, the uniqueness comes in when you look at the details... the lace features rose, thistle, daffodil, and shamrock - obviously chosen because they are the national flowers of England (rose), Wales (daffodil), Northern Ireland (shamrock), and Scotland (thistle).

The details are what really got me about the dress. Sometime after she stepped out of the car, I caught a slight glimpse of the designs at the end of the skirt and I thought it was so beautiful. I wish they were easier to see though; wish they stood out more so people wouldn't think it was just a plain ivory skirt.

The wedding dress will be part of the Summer exhibition at Buckingham Palace.  I look forward to seeing it.  For me it was perfect.  I did have my reservations when it was rumoured that Alexander McQueen's would be designing it, but boy oh boy was I proved wrong.

Peacocks, the high street cheap-chic chain, is launching a budget-bride version of THAT royal wedding dress, for just £60.

The dress, which will be the value fashion retailer's first-ever attempt at a bridal gown, will go on sale in August.

I think Isabella's the long veil was covering the similar but different cut of her skirt/train, although it seems to be loose fitting/baggy around her waist.

Right, that's it, it looked creased in the skirt.

Also, Kate's dress has lace flower apliques in her skirt, that just makes it even more unique.  I also think this dress will be one of the best in BR wedding history.

I totally agree to what you have written here. ^^^this will definitely be the best wedding dress in BR wedding history. She was gorgeous in it. I am also of the opinion that the flower appliqués made it even more unique. I even were in London on their wedding day and I bought  Edit for advertising for them. It was fantastic to be there and I would do any time again.
