KATE Middleton's mum and sister frock up to Bruce Oldfield's boutique - giving a big hint he's been picked to design the royal wedding dress.

Carole, 55, and Pippa Middleton were met at the door by the British style guru, who kissed them on the cheek.

He then spent an hour and 20 minutes with them at the back of his London shop, where they couldn't be seen, before waving them goodbye

A source said: "It must have been a special appointment because as a general rule Mr Oldfield does not do front-of-shop work."

During the secret visit, thrifty Carole browsed through SALE items for a mother-of-the bride outfit.

Several original designs have been reduced from thousands of pounds to hundreds. It is believed Carole - a self-made millionaire - and husband Michael have insisted on sticking with tradition and paying for Kate's dress.

A source said: "It's difficult for Kate to make the arrangements, particularly in public, so her mum and sister are running around for her." Before the shop visit, Carole and Pippa lunched at nearby San Lorenzo - Diana's favourite restuarant.

They're not being very secretive if they're walking into the shop in broad daylight in full view of everyone. It makes me question whether he might be designing the dress of the mother of the bride rather than the bride's dress.

also, it's seems unlikely kate is just now deciding her dress designer, considering all the reports that it takes more than 3 months to custom make a wedding dress.

not to mention the reports that the dress is already being made in buckingham palace. if it is, why visit the store?

OR, maybe oldfield IS doing the wedding dress, and carole so liked the designs she wanted to see what he had for mother of the bride dresses too?

mousie_kins: thanks for the pics! pippa looks nice with that softer hairstyle, not pulled back tight the way she often wears it.

alixx: you picked lovely dresses as samples of his work. the pics of oldfield gowns they've shown in the papers have not always been great, and few as nice as the ones you picked!

so, if pippa and carole are doing the pre-wedding legwork, what is kate doing?!

Its probably only for Carole. I do believe Pippa will be the or one of the bridesmaid, her dress will most likely be done by the same designer of Kate's wedding dress.

Although, BO's store has discounts, lots of ready to wear on sale, for any formal or evening occasion. Who knows with 2 receptions going on...

Mr. Olfield's designs are lovely. He is so closely associated with Diana, I almost hope he is not the choice for her dress.
Carole needs to do something else with her hair to soften her face. Pippa looks nice.

Yes they do look similar at times. Both very pretty girls.

TOTALLY cannot wait for the wedding. I predict record numbers of TV viewers.... if just accounting for the increase in the world population

i am so tired of all the articles calling oldfield "diana's favorite designer"! he wasn't! catherine walker was!

i know the press want to use the word "diana" as often as possible, and write articles where they can put kate and diana in one sentence, but can't they stop making stuff up, or stretching the truth into the bounds of wrong?

i like oldfield, but i'm so tired of these articles i wish kate would go with an unknown designer, or at least someone not associated with diana.
