The recipe has been kept a closely guarded secret, but the secret behind the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's "alternative" chocolate wedding cake can finally be revealed - it was made using 1,700 rich tea biscuits. The spectacular cake was commissioned by the Duchess of Cambridge for her new husband as an alternative to the official fruit wedding cake, and the master chocolatier who created it said the recipe was based on the Duke's favourite afternoon cake.Barry Colenso has finally been allowed to lift the lid on his masterpiece having been sworn to silence since April.He revealed that he had to make two versions, which travelled to Buckingham Palace following two separate routes, just in case the vehicle carrying one of the cars was involved in a crash. He said six cakes were designed over a frantic 29-day period before one was chosen.
