I'm pleased to see that Kate's bouquet will be laid on the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.  It may be a tradition which was started by the Queen Mother, but it still resonates as much today as it did then, with brave men and women giving their lives in wars all over the world.  Some traditions should pass from generation to generation remaining unchanged and this is one of them.

so did kate lay her bouquet on the tomb or did she not ??? I couldn't find anything about it yesterday and as far as I could see she certainly didn't do it after the ceremony in the abbey was over when she and Wills walked outside. I am slightly confused, anybody here having more information than I have ???

Maybe she took the bouquet back to the palace but later sent it back to be placed at the tomb? I'm pretty sure I saw the bouquet in pictures at Buckingham Palace. Unless she had multiple ones....

^^ I think they give the bouquets to someone else (can't remember who) to put at the Tomb now.  Kate had three bouquets for use in the wedding, in case the flowers in any one of them began to wilt, so one of them might be what you saw in at Buckingham Palace, ixxie.

We'd better get used to Kate doing a lot of traditional things from now on, because whether she chased William unashamedly or played hard-to-get, he couldn't have gotten caught unless he wanted to be. :blank:

After the pics are taken at the palace someone from the palace then takes the bouquet and lays it on the tomb of the unknown soldier.

^^ Hmmm ... I thought so, too, but according to Wikipedia:

Quote
When Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon married the future King George VI on 26 April 1923, she laid her bouquet at the Tomb on her way into the Abbey, as a tribute to her brother Fergus who had died at the Battle of Loos in 1915.

The story goes that there was a slight delay as she went to walk down the aisle, and during the few seconds she was standing she just placed the flowers on the tomb.   Ever since thne every royal bride has sent her bouquet to be placed on the tomb after the ceremony.Nowadays they possibly have  a second one made up and sent over afterwards,

Ok, did Elizabeth do this purposely or just nonchalantly? I have heard both versions that she did it in remembrance of her brother; and also that she just put it down and that place was where it was most likely not to get lost or trampled on.

I do not think she would just put it down somewhere for no real purpose,  we cannot possibly know her reasons and whether she had always planned to do it or just on the spur of the moment she decided to put them down but she did. As a result every royal bride since then has arranged for her bouquet or a copy to be placed on the tomb a few hours after the ceremony. They do not do it themselves.

I am sure she didn't just "put it down".  I don't know if it was a previously arranged thing, or if at the church she just decided to do it, but it was done in memory of her brother and the lost young men from WWI,  the tomb of the unknown soldier is never walked over...
If you saw Di's funeral, you might have noticed that the men carrying her coffin carefully stepped around the tomb...

Well seeing as how its a tomb it makes since that no one would step on top of it. I know people who try hard not to step on top of graves; which is quite hard btw!

I just meant that its unlikely that someone would lay their flowers on it just as a "place ot put them down".  Certainly in 1923 when the tomb was new, people would remember and treat it with reverence.

Oh no. I just meant that I coudnl't see the QM just "putting her flowers down there" just to have somewhere to put them.  She could have given them to her bridemaid or put them somewhere else..
They were deliberately put there, as a token of remembrace. but Im am not sure if she did it on the spur of the moment or had always intended to place them there...

It's always spin doctor PR, nothing cordial, nothing straight from heart. it was maybe in case of Queen Mother when she had experience with looking after in injured soldiers during WWI. Kate just snubbed RSVP and another actions for soldiers, she apparently leaked to the press some stupid attacks on some female soldier flying in dangerous Afghanistan, how she's Barbie and takes blow dryer with her [probably Kate can't go to disco club without hair maintenance, that's why she expects it from every girl], which angried all soldiers. Kate is unpopular within armed forces, calling her names. Think they sealed or closed some FB account of another Kate Middleton, Kate showed her intime parts many times on cameras by her own will. It's funny they call her Princess Willy right now in Ireland, but I don't think this label of damaged goods with workshy image makes her any good. mainly not for RF. She's ticking bomb. I was suprised, when FB disabled FB page of Hotter than July, which is quite very artistic display of naked bodies in good way, curated by Savannah Spirit. It's big buzz online and in press. I read somewhere arguements flying about sense of censorship, arts, FB, Playboy on FB and it's ok, former art history student Kate Middleton and her circa 6 images where she liber. shows her crotch and jokes how this woman can step into Westminster Cathedral, what's artistic nude body with covered crotch, Savannah Spirit, where is it ***ography. It's double measurement for different people, but I don't think some staged action will not take Kate closer to army or traditions. She missed what she could missed during her 8 years old apprent. and she has learnt nothing.

I agree with you and think William could have done SO much better than Kate Middleton.  I think he was worried about repeating his father's mistake; ie, Charles didn' marry Camilla because they were too young and he wanted experience with other women.  Therefore he married the first girl he fell in love with.  I just don't see anything behind her eyes and the incessant fiddling with her hair.  Kate Middleton didn't marry above herself, but William married beneath himself, and that has nothing to do with anything other than inner beauty.  I wish Chelsy Davy would have stuck it out with Harry.  She would have been an amazing bride.

More likely, he married the girl he is in love with.

well if you don't approve of Kate M, I can't see how you'd approve of Chelsey.  Kate is not up to much I think, and I would have hoped that W could have done better, but she does not seem to be as wild, partying and workshy as Chelsy.  If one of them is wrong as a royal bride the other would IMO be much worse.
I do think that Will is very wary of getting married, due to his Father's experience and has waited and waited for years to "test" If K is willing to wait for him and be utterly at his beck and call - and she has...
