I notice William and Kate seem to have no problem with Royal duties when they fall along the line of a Holiday to another country.  :happy15: I guess it is just the British people that they don't like getting out there to see. Privacy and all that.  :teehee:

Did she just now send the letter?  It seems rather late for that, if that's the case.  You would think that she would just thank him in private, and not have a letter sent out.

The PR people in the Palace only give out information when they think it is needed. Right now they are trying to help William and Kate overcome the bad PR they got from the vacation with her parents. The PR machine also likes to invoke the name of the Queen because they know how well respected she is around the world.

I just think it's odd that a grandmother would write her grandson a letter.  It's not like they don't live nearby each other.

The Queen seems to put a lot of worth with Prince William, their Sunday teas whilst in Eton, her most lovable marriage consent letter/privy council to him and Catherine, it appears she regards him with special weightiness.

It's a letter of congratulations for a job well done, which will most likely be kept for posterity.  Historians love things like that.  If it were a personal letter, telling him how much she loves him ... well, it probably wouldn't be a letter.  In that case, she probably picks up the phone and calls him. :D

of course she does just like she look the other way of Charles mess, if anyone else have marry a woman with no work ethic like William did i don't think she will  be that justified in a lovable marriage consent. Anyway it seems our lovely Queen is on the PR machine in make sure her favorite grandson bad press about the vacation gone and this will sure fix it all. who ever said calvary is dead!!!

This story came out months ago.  This is a report from last September with the same story.  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2041213/Prince-William-Queen-Elizabeth-exclusive-interview--My-grandma-incredible.html

‘Then the Queen sent me the most wonderful letter saying “Congratulations” and “Well done, you did well down there”, which meant a lot to me. It’s funny, but when you get a letter from her or a bit of praise, it goes a long, long way, more so than anyone else saying “well done” to you. It’s mainly because there’s such gravitas behind those words.’

The story is linked to the book Robert Hardiman has written about the Queen's Jubilee.  It is clear that William was giving an interview about The Queen and this story came out.  In the same interview he talks about her trip to Ireland.

The letter was sent some time after the trip and before he spoke to Mr Hardiman.
