They definitely bagged the best trip.  They will be gone for quite some time, their poor little kids!  I can't wait to see images of the various trips.

Just read a funny twitter discussion between Richard Palmer, Victoria Arbiter and Darren McGrady (ex royal chef of QEII, Princess Diana, Princes William and Harry)

They would be surprised how well informed these people are. I have been to one or two of these islands, and I have always been asked about other Royals other than The Queen, and what fascinates me most, is that they know who they are, and what they do.

That's really funny, and probably quite true.  A lot of the UK forget the Queen has a 3rd son, let alone a 4th child.  They all know Charles, Andy and Anne but if you say "Prince Edward" they respond with, "Who is that?"  Then if you say, "The Queen's possibly gay son," they respond with an enthusiastic nod and "Ohhh yeaaaaaahhhhh."  Gotta admit, Sophie was brave taking Edward on, even though we know he isn't actually gay, because no doubt she got a lot of stick back in the day.  (Particularly her, "My Edward's not Gay" headline.  She also fervently reported before their marriage that "Edward is DEFINITELY not gay, I can tell you that." :O living in sin, the outrage of it all!)

I think Edward and Sophie prefer it that way though, as they do not really like to be in the limelight that much.  I am sure the Islanders are aware of who Edward and Sophie are though as they have both visited the Carribbean a few times before.  No doubt all the countries wanted "Wills and Kate" but they can't go everywhere!

Agreed. What  a  vacation, a honeymoon for  these  two.
In  serious,  Sophie Wessex  will make HRM, QEII  proud again and   make  the British  people proud  of  her, Sophie, again.
I  say  her,  because  of  course,  PEward  knows  these things  because  he  was  born  to  it.

As we  have  said  before,  if  Kate Middleton  needs  to  learn  anything,  she  should  look  towards  Sophie  Wessex.

I am not mocking them, I am a Wessex Duo fan.  Edward and Sophie are my favourite Royal couple, I am just saying that it is true that not many people know who they are, even those who live in the U.K.  Which is sad as they are both hard working, happy Royals who do a lot for their Crown and Country.

It is evident that most places would have wanted William and Catherine as they are the latest Royal celebrities, we all know how much the press are obsessed with Catherine.  I for one am glad that Edward and Sophie appear to have bagged the best trip, as it shows the Queen likes them and knows they will represent her well.  We all know how much she loves Sophie and the little Mountbatten-Windsors.

Of course people in the United Kingdom know who they are. I mean, if you say Prince Edward they may not click immediately, but if you refer to them by their official title as the Earl and Countess of Wessex they will know exactly who you mean.

Just in the same manner as calling Princess Michael of Kent Marie Christine or Prince Richard instead of The Duke of Gloucester. We know them by their official titles not by their names.

I hope they enjoy it and am sure they are getting excited. I think Sophie is her favorite of all the people who have married into the Royal Family so far. (Although I am sure she tries to accept them all) She seems to have a special relationship with the Countess of Wessex.  :blowkiss:

I see through twitter some royal correspondents confirming their travel arrangements to follow Prince Harry, but not 1 so far with the Wessex.

And Sophie must be grateful with the Sovereign, she paid the biggest part of Sophie's debts upon entering the Firm.

When one is grateful, obedience would be one of the ingredients to the previous word. I'd honestly feel compelled to pay back.

Other than, I do wish them success in the Diamond Jubilee Tour. If only Fleet Street would send at least 1 or 2 journalists to cover and distribute to the British national press -- last year whilst 3000 worldwide journalists, photographers and TV crew followed W&C, Princess Anne and Prince Edward and spouse carried out various official overseas engagements, not one mention -  to find out, one had to look for a tidbit in whatever country they were visiting.

Didn't Sophie have to quit work because of her marriage? Anyway they should enjoy their island tour and I'm sure they will be good representatives.   :blowkiss:

Today is their first day of the official Royal Diamond Jubilee tour.  Is there any calendar-agenda of day to day visit?

Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex are to begin their tour of the Caribbean in St. Lucia, where their visit coincides with St. Lucia's 33rd Anniversary of Independence. Celebrations are taking place across the island, and Their Royal Highnesses are expected to attend a few. The small Caribbean island gained its independence from the United Kingdom on 22 February 1979.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex will begin in St Lucia where they will join the Independence Day celebrations, attending the Parade and watching a youth performance.
