Thanks for the link, Sara8150. Yes, Princess Margaret had a vacation home on Mustique. I'm glad Kate is still having family time with the Middletons. Will just had a Spain break so it works out nicely.

The trip may have been a joint birthday celebration. On January 9 Kate turned 30, while her mum Carole is 57 at the end of the month

Happy birthday!

I thought they gave up their skiing holiday to show that they understood the difficult economic times but they have simply rubbed that idea into the faces of the people - first with the killing spree in Spain and now this.

In touch with the people - that's a laugh.  They don't even have the decency to holiday at home.

If my parents had ever offered me a vacation such as that on my birthday, I'm sure I would have turned it down flat.  Not. :)

She better be careful with her actions from now on she is a woman who does nothing all day and lives off British tax payers and her honey moon with the press is almost over tick tock, tick tock ...this will be pretty entertaining ...

Memememe I doubt it, once Prince Harry and the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie went to Switzerland, then the Princes William and Harry to Spain, it was clear the whoever wrote that austerity don't spend article claim made it up.

This will probably be their 'pattern' of holidays, rather than what their old folks usually do, i.e. Her Majesty in Sandringham until February of each year and so forth.

Some royal correspondents agree with Rebecca English, suggesting that as soon as PW finishes his RAF/SAR duty, which he probably was done today, he's off to Mustique, although they never stay more than 1 week, so in my view rather short.   They also usually take 1 week around Easter to the piste.  And 1 week during the Summer to Mustique again -- although I doubt they will be going, they've got the Jubilee around June, Olympics July and August and around Autumn the South Pacific Royal tour in Celebration of QEII Jubilee.

There were pictures of Harry in Spain , the problem with them is that they first claim they dropped the ski vacation because they didn't want to  come across as insensitive and got themselves some good pr while at it and suddenly a couple of weeks later she is jetting to a luxery island.Did the economic situation change in Britain .

Yes I saw a few photos of Harry in Spain.  The claim came from the press, there were no reliable source names of people.

No the global recession continues, my view is people that can and have should spend, money makes the world go round -- if we were all with that mind set, the British Airways flight to St. Lucia should be empty, flight cancelled...

Eri, I was checking the other day the royal diary, hence my comment about Prince Phillip not resting (another myth from the journalists stating he was not going to do nothing but 1 or 2, which seems its not true), January is almost a 'dead' month for royal duties, 1-2 for each of the senior royals, February onward until beginning of Summer is usually full.

Im not surpprised shes on vacation...i mean if wills in working and she has nothing else to do...and her familly is going on vacation why would she stay...the thing is pbviously people will comet shes not longer a private citizen...now shes a royal and is too soon for her to be enjoying travelly..i mean all she does is aparentlly is have fun at gala dinners  and travell...
Maybe thats why she married him so she could do nothing but dressing well and traveling a lot  :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

No serious good for her...bad for her image me thinks...especially the way the tabloid portrays is is like theyre conducting people to think its a very bad thing...i dont think is terrile but yeah is not the best news..she should be doing something else besides dressing well and vacationing...me thinks anyway....Time to start showin more!!!!Not for vacationing...

Bad move for her...not the timing....

I don't think so,  as I said the Royal Diary is packed for the Senior Royals from February to beginning of Summer, January they do 1-2 duties -- its not a month of a lot of movement.

Sorry, Kate is living the same old life as before -  however, now she has protection which the British Tax Payer are funding - and all the other trappings.  Even I can't quite believe she would be so silly to jet off on yet another holiday.   :orchid:

Out of curiosity, wouldn't this vacation be funded by her parents?

The Middleton's have money, Prince William has money, both the Cambridge's receive money from the Duchy of Cornwall.

Yes, I think Catherine (and William) will try to stick to their holiday pattern until they can, when they have children and all, as soon as they hit 70-80 they'll probably do what their old folks do Birkhal, Balmoral, Sandringham, same ritual for Summer and Winter and leave it to the young.

Yes, the protection officers no matter where the senior royals are, they have to go and be with them 24/7.

We are paying for the security - the flights, accommodation, food.... - No sorry, it's just not good enough - She should be concentrating on her 5 charities - not sunning herself - again..... :Lothwen:

Yes the British are paying for the security 24/7 of all the senior royals no matter where they go, they have to be with them, as I said in my previous post.

Sophiechloe I understand what you mean and your republican sentiment.   :flower:  Nevertheless, all the working senior royals haven't and won't be doing much and never had done much in January, about 1-2 during this month.  Other working senior royals will not do anything until February, which is also a pattern.

SophieChloe no, she never did a whole year round holidaying, her GAP year was the most productive of anyone entering the BRF.  :P

PP yes, both the Middleton's as ex-employees surely have premium cards and discounts with the airline they worked for.  I understand the Middleton's are also owners of a small travel agency in Reading -- they can get discounts, points and free tickets by destination sales.
