The Governor-General of Barbados is the vice-regal representative of the Queen of Barbados; and regularly acts on the Sovereign's behalf as the nation's Head of State, the Office of the Governor-General of Barbados is regarded as being the most important of all personnel of the Barbados Government.

Earl of Wessex speech to joint session of Barbados Parliament

The Earl and Countess of WessexHis Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex has addressed a joint session of the Parliament of Barbados. In his role as Representative of the Queen's Majesty during this Diamond Jubilee Tour, Prince Edward urged Barbados leaders to have 'courage, creativity and common sense' to overcome their economic challenges.

Garter Day 2011

Queen Elizabeth II in Garter RobesOne of the most noble and colourful ceremonies has taken place today at Windsor Castle. The service of the Most Noble Order of the Garter took place today at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Knights and Ladies of the Garter took part in the ceremony, which involved a lunch reception in the Waterloo Chamber at Windsor Castle, the investiture of new knights in the Garter Throne Room and the installation ceremony at St. George’s Chapel.

Two new knights were invested with the insignias of the Order of the Garter, and dressed in their ceremonial robes by the Queen in the Garter Throne Room.
